This week the students will complete a Kidblog on the subject being thankful.
Day 1 - The students will take a 1 minute timed test in Typing.com. Then the assignment will be explained, and students given time to complete the assignment. Day 2 - Students will complete their blog, spend time in Typing.com, and make comments on their classmate's blogs. Students will work in Typing.com this week and work to build keyboarding skills.
Day 1: Students will work at Typing.com, working towards mastery of level 1.
Day 2: Students will continue to work in Typing.com. Students will take a 1 minute timed test. This week, students will blog about their favorite part of the Christmas Story. This blog should reflect the account of the birth of Jesus, and not Ralphie and his pursuit of a bb gun!
Day 1: Students will begin writing their blog. Day 2: Students will edit their post, and comment on other posts (3). This week we're going to get caught up. We've had a number of assignments, and many interruptions. So here is the plan:
1. Finish any blog post you haven't completed. 2. Comment (nicely) on three blog posts for each topic. 3. Change your filter to allow comments to show. 4. Work in Typing.com Student Goals:
1. Students will learn basic functions of Microsoft Word such as font style and size, indentation, and spell check. 2. Students will apply typing skills and create a Word document. Day 1: 1. Students will make a Word document based on the question: "How many hidden words can I find in the word September?" This will include making a number list, making type face bold, and centering the test. Day 2: 1. Students will spend time in Typing.com Student Goals:
1. Students will learn basic functions of Microsoft Word such as font style and size, indentation, and spell check. 2. Students will apply typing skills and create a Word document. Day 1: 1. Students will work with teacher on a Word document tutorial. Day 2: 1. Students will "create" their own Word document. Student goals:
1. Improve on basic keyboarding skills 2. Respond to new Kidblog article Day 1: We will spend time working at typing.com, working on improving keyboarding skills with GOOD TECHNIQUE! - students need to rest their fingers in home row - students need to not look at the keyboard - students should be working on lessons in the beginner typing wheel and can spend the last 5 minutes only in the typing games section. Then we will spend time responding to the new Kidblog post. Day 2: Finish the Kidblog post assigned this week. Remember to do the following: 1. Answer the question correctly. a. What is your favorite Michigan season? b. Why is this your favorite season? c. What activities do you enjoy during this season? Take your time answering the question and answer it well. Once you have answered the question well, comment on at least three classmates' blog posts. Your comment needs to go beyond simple one and two word answers and you don't have to agree with them, but you must be KIND. Remember that all of our comments online need to go through the THINK filter! T - is it true? H - is it helpful? I - is it inspiring? N - is it necessary? K - is it kind? When you have completed the blog post, you can visit typing.com and continue your progress there. Student goals:
1. Improve on basic keyboarding skills 2. Finish the Kidblog post that was started Day 1: This will be Mr. Howard's first day so students will spend some time getting to know him and then the rest of the time should be spent at typing.com, working on improving keyboarding skills with GOOD TECHNIQUE! - students need to rest their fingers in home row - students need to not look at the keyboard - students should be working on lessons in the beginner typing wheel and can spend the last 5 minutes only in the typing games section. Day 2: Finish the Kidblog post assigned last week. Remember to do the following: 1. Answer the question correctly. The question was not, "who would be the best president?," but rather a three part response: a. What is the biggest issue (your opinion) that our country faces? b. Which candidate would do the best job with that issue? c. WHY do you think this? Take your time answering the question and answer it well. Once you have answered the question well, comment on at least three classmates' blog posts. Your comment needs to go beyond simple one and two word answers and you don't have to agree with them, but you must be KIND. Remember that all of our comments online need to go through the THINK filter! T - is it true? H - is it helpful? I - is it inspiring? N - is it necessary? K - is it kind? When you have completed the blog post, you can visit typing.com and continue your progress there. |
